Traditionally the colophon comes from the book world. It describes the typeface, typesetting and printing methods used to produce the book who's Colophon you are looking at. This convention has spilled over into the digital publishing world, as a place to list tools and techniques used. Give credit to others who's work you have built upon and provide any other nerdy information that the author feels he or she needs to inflict on the viewer.
